Hi, Below in PINK is my email question to The Man of Aran Cottage and in GREEN is the response I received from them (Joe Wolfe). The response seems a little odd. Michele, What are your thoughts? TY!
Dear Maggie
I will reply to you when I buy my 2013 diary , regards
Hello, I'm preparing (the best part) my trip to Ireland for March 2013. I'm checking to see if you have two rooms available (each for one adult) on Friday March 15 for one night.
Sounds to me like a typically Irish way of saying, "I can't commit to anything, THAT far ahead!"
I am attending the SligoLive Music Festival, which runs the Bank Holiday Weekend of 24- 29 October. As of 15 minutes ago, their dedicated website STILL isn't finalized!
I wouldn't read too much into it. It's a Cultural Thing.

I consider myself a fairly laid back person too...I just lack patience...And I'm very proactive...Guess I'll just sit back and wait to hear back from Joe! :)
Most lodgings don't even begin their reservations till after Jan 1. So for 2013 reservations wait a bit. Although, self-catering in popular places in summer might do reservations farther in advance.
Even some of the computer generated reservations systems at hotels will show no vacancies for next year, which panics people. They just don't realize that the systems haven't caught up yet.
Funny..as I read Joe's reply...I more heard him than read the words...Send him an email in mid to late January, as they try to do their traveling to see family and friends in December and January
And you'll have a lovely visit there. Just keep in mind they are in the middle of the island, and the pubs aren't nearby! We rented bikes to get around. And when the weather was 'lively' we had a taxi take us around... except when Joe was kind enough to give us a lift!
It is truly worth it to walk up to Dun Aengosa at 8 in the morning, before any day trippers arrive, and have it all to yourself in the fresh Atlantic wind...
