prepaid debit cards?

I usually don't carry anything but cash in my bag because of a issue. im always scared of having my identity stolen.dohdohdohdohdohnonono

Will prepaid debit cards work in Ireland? if they do work do I have to buy an international card or can I just use the one I already have from the United States.

The B&Bs are already booked ahead of time by the tour group im going with on my first trip to Ireland. So if I use it ,it willl mainly be just to buy emergency things, shopping , and souvenirs.

some friends looked up some museums I could look at and might take interest in, but they came across a strange one called the Leprechaun Museum . not quite sure what it is . It sounds pretty interesting but im not sure where in Ireland it is located. Is it just a place of telling folklore ? I plan to hear as much of it as I can. So I would be glad to here some thoughts on this .

Can't help on the Debit Card question as I have used my own for the last 13+ years without any problem ...

As to the Museum -- It's in Dublin (though there MAY be others hmm )  Info here:

They are also on Facebook -- https://www.facebook.com/LeprechaunMuseum

When we visited Ireland in 2004 we used a Debit card from AAA, https://midatlantic.aaa.com/Travel/VisaTravelMoneyCard , we had no problems at all, next year were returning and we plan to use our Capital One Debit Card.

Have a great trip.

I think the issuing pre-paid debit card should be the one asked your question. They will have all the info you need. With so many different schemes out there it is impossible for any of us to know about an individual card. Contact them for correct info.

Where will you be in Ireland? There are some very good museums but we would have to know where you will be. If in Dublin I wouldn't miss Kilmainham Gaol if you are at all interested in Irish history. You can also try these:

The best way if you have time is to open an extra account at your local Bank/Credit Union with a debit card for your holiday fund. Be sure you can transfer funds from your regular account if needed. Debit/Credit card Identity theft is not something that floods the Irish press. You will though need to inform your provider that you will be in Ireland from xx/xx/20xx to xx/xx/20xx.

The AAA Card we used in 2004 was a Pre-Paid / Reloadable Card backed by VISA, our Capital One Card we intend to use next year is a Debit Card that draws against our Checking Account.
As tony2phones says always notify your Credit/Debit/ Bank Card that you are traveling outside the USA.
