RE: March 2013 Shaping up!!!

So, I compared rates and times of taking a bus vs a train from Galway to Adare. The best choice seems to be the bus. Cost and time is fairly consistent. The train will take us to Limerick where we'd then need to catch a bus or call a taxi, whereas the bus will take a us directly to Adare.

Is there anything about the bus system we should be aware of before using them? (Tend to be late, break down etc.) (Like Greyhound in the US) ;)

Thanks!

Rail and Bus locations in Limerick are next to each other. The 51 is a decent service, we use it to get down to Shannon. will be on it tomorrow night. runs maybe a few minutes late arriving Galway but southbound any lag is taken out on the Ennis stop.

What's the 51? Is that bus lingo?

Thanks Bob! I'll look into a hackney...I've never heard that term. Learn something new everyday. :) Thanks for the extra bus tips. I really appreciate it.  I also know Adare Manor provides day trips for its guests...I was thinking of reaching out to them to see the possibility of piggybacking on a trip (if any are of interest)... Can't hurt to try.

Okay. I'm getting into some very important details for our upcoming trip...eating ! So far I'd like to visit the following eateries...

* Dublin: Just made reservations at Pig's Ear and requested a window seat. So far impressed with their email correspondence and reviews on Tripadvisor!

* Inishmore: Teach Nan Phaidi, This place sounds like an absolute must!

* Galway: Sheridan's Cheesemonger (for cheese/meat platter and wine, looking for a place to sit and have a little bite)

* Galway: Gourment Tart Company (Take out menu looks great, looking for a light and an inexpensive lunch)

...and this garden.

* Dublin: Iveagh Gardens (been to Stephen's Green and the garden/park near Merrion Square)

Any thoughts about these places that we should consider (good, bad, indifferent)?

Thanks!

Maggie
