In planning our trip to Ireland in May, I signed up on livingsocial.com for deals in Ireland. Yesterday a good deal came up for Durty Nelly's at Bunratty Castle, and I thought I would pass it along. If you are familiar with Living Social, you only have a few days to buy deals when they are offered, and I think this one is available for four more days or so. Anyway, I bought it for my family, and I thought I would pass it along to anyone else who might be interested!
For 25 (up to a 50.60 value, for up to 51% off) bring a friend or partner out to lunch with a main course, a dessert, and a hot drink each for two people.
Or for 49 (a 101.20 value, for up to 52% off), get the whole crew involved with the same deal for four people.
Situated next to Bunratty Castle, sit down in one of Ireland's most famous pubs to a homemade beef burger with smoked bacon, Nelly's traditional fish and chips, or something from the lunch specials menu, before moving on to hot apple pie with fresh cream or delicious cheese cake.
They don't list their lunch menu or lunch specials online so I'm not sure if it would be advantageous. I'm going to email them for prices. Their Christmas Lunch menu seems quite expensive, and would make this deal a steal. I'm thinking their food runs more expensive. Does anyone know what a lunch entree runs for (in case I don't hear back from them)?
If its of any use the Locals would be very thin on the ground... The Creamery across the road is an option but expensive. You also have the problem of having to go to Shannon and back down when travelling up on the bus. Fine if you are going into the Folk park and castle.
As to Adare Auntie Lena's is good pub grub at fairly reasonable prices. Be aware that prices for meals can vary considerably..Chris uses the price of soup as the base line, currently 4 euro or less would be reasonable.

Since you guys are going in May I thought you might be interested in this living social deal too. I am going to miss being able to use it by just a few days since it is not avalible until May and I leave Galaway April 29th. It's for a scenic flight that takes you past the cliffs of Moher and the islands. Link and details are below if you are interested. And thanks Kathy for giving me the heads up about living social in Ireland. I use them and Groupon a lot here at home.
An estimated 30,000 birds live in the Cliffs of Moher, and humans alike flock from all around to visit this stunning area of natural beauty. Soar over to Aer Arann Islands with today's deal for a scenic flight experience for just 30 (a 60 value), and get a bird's eye view of one of Irelands most stunning areas.
Also taking in the three Aran Islands -- including Dun Aengus Fort on Inis Mór -- and Galway Bay, the 35-minute flight leaves from Connemara Regional Airport at 12 noon everyday -- depending on the weather. Before your flight, you'll have a 10 minute briefing at the airport to prepare you for takeoff. Experience the vibrancy and beauty of the nature and culture of this historic part of coastal Ireland with a company that's been serving the Aran Islands for more than 42 years. The airport features free parking facilities and a convenient shuttle bus service offers return trips from Galway city centre for just 6. Available to redeem from May.
I decided not to do this deal...I'll be happy just to sit down and have a drink at Durty Nelly's... :) Last time we were in Bunratty we had just finished our first "green blur tour" of Ireland and couldn't manage to do any more "touristy" things...so we missed out on Durty Nelly's, the Folk Park and the Medieval dinner...which will do in just a few weeks. :)
An old friend of mine had so much mead at the Bunratty banquet she swore she took the elevator. She also has a photo of herself sitting on some strange man's lap.
