Even though I've been researching and planning, I'll put out a request for ideas on day trips from Kenmare, mostly in Co. Cork. I have probably missed a few. Also, I'm looking for stops along the way on our first day traveling from Shannon to Abbeyfeale. I'm thinking breakfast in Adare, but as usual I'm open to all ideas and suggestions.
You could take the coast road out t5owards Askeaton and beyond...takes you on the South side of the Shannon Mouth...Between Askeaton and Glin, you are right along the coast...then you can drop down from Glin straight in to AbbeyFeale... or continue a bit further and cut down through Bunnaruddee Bog in to Lisstowel
You could visit the Friary & Askeaton Castle ruins, explore Listowel...
We're in Ireland now, I'd vote for Gougane Bare if the weather is nice, followed by The Ewe, which is about 4 km's out of Glenngariff. Theewe.com,it's an outside sculpture park with a 'green' twist. Very whimsical and nice.
Bantry house was enjyable, but I thought a bit pricey....I understand they need money for restoration, but at 11e a bit much. I did get to take a great nap on the lawn in the sun.
