Hello again Michele! I am ready to start deciding where we will visit between Shannon and Dublin this August. The tips for buying airline tickets suggested following the prices for awhile to see if they are trending up or down....well they were about $969.00 per person from Tampa,Orlando,or NY (all possibilities for us) and suddenly jumped to $1300-yikes! I sure hope they go back down some and I'll jump on it. As we need 5- the savings could be significant. Does anyone have experience in purchasing tickets as far as how long before your trip you purchase them? I didn't feel rushed in February...who knew....maybe we'll get lucky.

We have planned our trip for mid September. I was told to wait too, but I am not a patient so I went ahead an booked our tickets. I do know when I looked last week, they had gone up some but not like what you have experienced. I know this doesn't help you now, hopefully they will come back down for you. Have a great trip.
I just booked, out of GNV -- a small, regional airport -- for under $1100 per ticket. It's our local airport and the flights only have a single stop-over, so they were NOT our cheapest options. What sites are you using to search?
I did a quick search on www.Kayak.com for Orlando to Dublin and found Aug tickets at $1146 each. Of course, dates and flights will vary.
RSW (Fort Myers) has flights on Jet Blue/Aer Lingus, to Dublin, Aug 13-20, for $1095 each. If MCO and TPA are options, I would think RSW would be, too?
During the summer, Aer Lingus has Non-Stop flights to Dublin from MCO -- but, only on CERTAIN days -- for around $1200 each.
Sadly, NONE of us have accurate, Crystal Balls to predict Flight Costs -- The airlines all 'Float' prices, based upon presumed demand. They might still go down -- or Up! -- depending upon more variables than the Stock Market ...

Thanks Bob, I have an alert on Kayak for Orlando, Tampa, and NY. My sons live in those areas. I'll be looking at Dublin as well as Shannon- Right now, both cities are about equally priced. We were planning on flying into Shannon and out of Dublin as we have an American football game at Croke Stadium on August 30.
Unfortunately only the airlines know what they are doing and they don't let us mere mortals in on the game. And a game it is. Sort of like gambling in Vegas. You find a fare you are comfortable with and purchase it. There is no looking back. If I could predict the Irish weather and airfares I would be rich!
