Welcome to Michele's Forum. A trip to Ireland is ALWAYS a good idea.
However, I'm not really sure what you are asking . . .
Are you talking about a SPECIFIC Tour or Package? Are you asking about the General Idea of doing a Self-Drive with B&B stays? When would you be traveling? What do you want to see/experience?
Most of us here are Big Fans of Self-Driving, as opposed to Tour Bus travel. Irish B&Bs are among the finest that I've ever experienced -- but, as is true of Everything --Quality CAN vary quite a bit. It's generally agreed that B&B Vouchers are usually neither Cost-Effective, nor do they necessarily provide the Best Choices.
Please let us know how we can help to make your trip Truly Special!

Perhaps you are looking at a self-drive package tour of Ireland that includes flights, car and B&B vouchers? If so you need to add up the costs. If you are a couple keep in mind that each will be paying for the car so you must double that part of the package to get the total car price. In general we prefer to individually piece together a trip: airfare, car, lodgings. The tours that are sold to you by a travel agent will most likely use vouchers for lodgings, which greatly restricts where you can stay.
In general a B&B costs around 35 euro per person. That can vary a little from season to season.
There are some fantastic B&Bs in Ireland. The only problem most people have when first planning is underestimating how long it takes to drive around. Plus you must add time for each sightseeing stop. There is so much to see and do in Ireland that with only 10 - 12 days you must choose carefully and probably whittle down your "must see" list (if you have one at this point).
You have time for planning. Read up on what you want to see and do. Then let us know if you have any questions as you proceed.
On my first trip to a Ireland, I purchased B&B vouchers for what I thought was the convenience. As Bob said, they are not cost effective and can be quite constrictive as many B&B's do not accept them. I have not used them since.
