Bunratty and Ennis accommodations

Hello,

We have the opportunity to stay at the Headley Court and attend the Irish Traditional dinner our first day and night in Ireland. We will enjoy the sights and evening in the town of Ennis our second day and I was wondering if the Headley court would be our best option for spending our second night in Ireland as well,  being that we have a son arriving very early the  following morning at the Shannon airport.

The hotels in Ennis are lovely and although I am waiting to hear about their availability for our second night in Ireland, they are 27km from the airport I believe. Also, The Headly has a great rate for us if we stay two nights. What do you think?

Thank you so much.

Hi Cindi,

I would spent the second night in Ennis. There will be more opportunity for some traditional Irish music in Ennis, which may not start until 9:30 pm or later. You will not want to be driving back to Bunratty after sundown. Keep in mind that Irish road are not good for night driving.

Ennis is only a 20 minute drive back to Shannon. Also, one day and night is all you will need in Bunratty.

Bunratty gets a lot of favour, unfortunately having spent a week there one night with only 2 non hotel bars serving several coach loads I would say it is an ideal place if you are attending the late banquet and then going to bed early with a cab booked for your early departure.

Unfortunately as Ennis is one of my favourite towns I might be slightly biased with all those different bars, eateries and entertainment options.. of course the danger of having to sit next to a local is far greater if you decide against Bunratty

I think Headley Court is one of the finest B&Bs in Ireland, but Bunratty just can't match Ennis  when it comes to night life . . .

In THIS case, a 'one-and-one' DOES make a certain kind of sense. . .  Particularly if you are looking at either the Old Ground or the Temple Gate.

Thank you Bob,
I have confirmed Headley Court for our first night and we will stay in Ennis for our second night. I am waiting to hear from both the Temple Gate and the Old Ground about availability and accommodations. If both have availability, which would you suggest We might prefer?. Our sons are 19,21 and 25.
Thank You!
Cindi

I'm slightly partial to the Temple Gate, but I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Bob.. Or anyone,
They have lodging availability at the Temple Gate for 2 rooms for us. So far, I have booked b&b everywhere else that we are staying. At Temple Gate, I need to choose rooms only @ US $ 90 per person, b&b $100 per person, or b&b and dinner in the Rosette Legends Restaurant $117 per person.
Any thoughts about the packages ? I was thinking might this might a good night to have a  really nice restaurant dinner Before we go out to enjoy the pubs. The menu looks amazing. The prices  for the dinner at $17 per person sure looks like a great bargain. Breakfast does as well at $10. I've checked twice and the prices are listed in dollars.
Thanks,
Cindi

I think I would go for the B&B + D package.
