Send a gift FROM U.S. to Ireland

To Michele, et al,

I am new to this forum. Thank you for having me.

I would like to send a gift to a friend in Ireland from the U.S. and am told if the gift exceeds a certain amount it will incur customs/duty fees for the recipient [which I would rather not do].

Does anyone know what that amount/limit is in U.S. dollars so I'll know to keep the gift below that amount, please?
