After leaving Dublin we are going to Armagh and then Enniskillen. Do you think it would be better to stay over in Armagh or head over to Enniskillen after a time in Armagh during the day. The cathedrals look great in Armagh. We like the pub scene at night. Are there many good pubs in Armagh with Irish sessions/music. After that we are heading out to Westport, Clifden, Galway, then Ennis and Bunratty. jim
There is no shortage of pubs around Ireland and NI. Music sessions in pubs depend on time of year and time of week (weekends have more music). See links below:
Michele, We(my wife and another couple) are in Ireland for 9 nights. We did the southern part of Ireland 3 years ago. We are staring in Dublin mid September(wanted to start from Shannon but because of the Ryder Golf that changed). We are driving. I assume we can travel in and out of NI with no problem. 3 years ago we stated at bunratty/ennis and did the Cliffs and Burren along with Kilrush(my wifes grandmother was married at St Seanans). We did the Ring and Cobh,Kilkenny,Glendolough, and Dublin. This time looking foward to Galway especially. Looking for 2-3 nights there. Also a day in inishmor. Also hitting Enniskillen the Parkes on our way across the country. Thinking of staying at the Seapoint in Westport(the picture on the website looks great--doing Mollys). Driving aroud Sky Road and Connamara and seeing Clifden. Also seeing Anthenry, Kilomouch, Dunguaire on our way to Ennis. jim
I am particularly fond of Enniskillen. It is such a nice, scenic area. You could see Armagh on the way. Since you will be in NI you won't want to miss the Antrim coast and Giant's Causeway. Really spectacular.
There is no problem going into NI. Just inform your car rental agency in advance. Since there are two couples traveling together and you will be there during Ryder Cup, you may want to nail down some reservations soon, especially for Dublin.
