Joys Rockside

June 17 To Kinsale via caher

June 19 Kenmare
Abbey Court

June 20 Kenmare to Dingle

The next 2 days we will slowly make our way north with my husband showing us the places he saw with his Father(FIL was born and raised in Co. Lietrim). The next 3 days will be spent in Lietrim visiting cousins and Aunt and seeing FIL's land.

Looks fine to me. The only one of those places I've stayed at is The Shores. You must tell Annette that Bill says hi. Actually, I'll have seen her a few weeks earlier, but say hi anyway.

Thanks for the comment Bill.I will say hi ,I picked The Shores because of you and Budman on Fodors.Do you know that you are quoted in Fodors 2006 guide book,Greendragon also.

Susan,

Welcome to my forum. I think that your itinerary looks good. Do you have any idea of where you might stop on your two nights between Dingle and Leitrim? The reason I ask is that it is a weekend and they can be busy with weddings, etc. But if you are flexible and find one town bustling you can always go on to another.

I think your son will really like Cahir Castle. By all means take the tour because it is so informative. But save some time for wandering around by yourselves and seeing all the nooks and crannies. It is one of Ireland's best castles. I think he would also like Charles Fort in Kinsale.

Joy's Rockside House is excellent as is The Shores and Bunratty Lodge. If you have the opportunity to dine at The Shores, by all means do so. You will be in for a memorable experience. I have inspected Emalgh Lodge and it is included in my book under "Quick Picks". It seemed very nice and Maggie was most accommodating. Abbey Court and Rivermount had no one at home when I tried to inspect them. Perhaps on your return you will tell us about them.

What town will you be staying in Letrim? Are you staying with relatives?

What page are the quotes in Fodor's 2006? I will have to look them up. Have a great trip!

Michele

I don't know where we are going after Dingle. My husband wanted to do the entire trip with out reservations the way he did his with his father. He went in September ,so this trip will be very different with the amount of tourist there are in June.So....he will have 2 nights to wander ,I hope it works out.
In Lietrim we are staying in Dowra. Many many generations of my husbands family are from there and he still has A cousin there. My father in law was born and raised in Dowra and still owns his familys land ,which he leases out to A famer.
The quotes in Fodors 2006 are in the start of the sections . Greendrgon is in the Dublin section page 134,Bill is in the Southeast section page 211.

Susan,

I'm sure your two wandering days will work out fine. If you are in a pinch to find lodgings any tourist office will find you something for a small fee. The family reunion sounds like fun.

Thanks for the Fodors page numbers. I will have to check them out at the bookstore.

Susan,

That sounds just fine. Thanks so much for your comments about my book and the coupon pack. I hope you enjoy them in Ireland. BTW, I have just heard from Annette at The Shores and Bill and his wife were just there recently. I know we are all looking forward to his trip report when he returns.
