We have 14 days - is it viable to spend 10 days in Ireland and 4 days in Scotland. Ireland is really the focus, but this trip is going to be the ONE for a long time, so should we try to squeeze in Scotland as well?
I don't think I would Polly. There is more than enough to fill your time in Ireland and a four day trip to Scotland would be more of a chance to just put a check mark on your to-travel list rather than a true vist. Scotland is quite large and takes quite a bit of time to absorb, just like Ireland.
I have been to Scotland as well as Ireland and must agree with Bill on this one. You are better off to concentrate on one country instead of trying to break it up. Besides, flights take time. What may seem like a one hour flight can easily take half a day when you consider getting to the airport ahead of time, turning in the car, checking in, flying. Then on the other side you must wait for luggage, rent a car, etc. You really wouldn't see much of Scotland at all.
Instead of trying to squeeze Scotland in, just take your time and enjoy Ireland thoroughly. I think you will be glad you did.
