Is their availability to pick up and drop off a rental car other than Dublin airport? We wont need a car for two days after arrival and it seems counter productive to go back to airport just to get car when already in City center
Many operators have city or "virtual" (meet and greet) city offices. It might also be possible to collect a car at your first destination and drop it at your last using public transport to get between those points and Dublin?

You certainly can rent at places other than the airport, but just know that it will probably be much more expensive to rent in Dublin City Center than at the airport. A quick look at a couple of sites is charging about $200 more for the same rental for one week. A taxi from city center to the airport rental depot is only about $25. My advice would be to enjoy Dublin without a car, and then go up to the airport when you need to get a vehicle. Not only that, but it also keeps you from having to drive back into the city to return the car -- and you really might want to stay clear of doing that.

Another thought. There are more cars available at the airport. If they try to give you one that you don't like you can tell them you want another one instead and get it immediately. That might not happen elsewhere especially if they meet you at a certain spot in the city with "your" car.
