Hello my name is Jason I'm slightly disabled and hoping to come to Northern Ireland in 2016 I want to come over on the ferry from Liverpool and arrive at Belfast. I hope to look at the Titanic exhibition and also go to the the Giant's Causeway I am wondering if I should hire a tour guide because it's my first time traveling overseas and I'll be probably be going on my own without a family I wonder if anyone can offer and the suggestions I will be going over in the car so I can take my disability scooter on the back thank you for any input
Welcome to the forum Jason. Since you will have a car you should note that there is parking at Titanic Belfast. If you stay at Premier Inn Titanic Quarter you would be right nearby. How long are you spending in Belfast? Many people enjoy the Black Taxi tours of Belfast.
The Giant's Causeway is an easy drive from Belfast taking the scenic Antrim coast road. You can see quite a bit from your car but do drive down to the various beaches and coves for some lovely scenery. There is a pretty steep hill going down to the causeway so I don't know if your mobility scooter can handle it. However, there is a bus that can take your down and back also. You will want to avoid Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Dunluce Castle as they have too many steps and/or hikes.
Probably cant tell you anything you don't already know. The official line on access to the Titanic Exhibition http://www.titanicbelfast.com/Site/Accessibility.aspx There are wheel chair friendly Black Cab tours of the "Troubles"
The Causeway as Michele has indicated might not be best suited to a mobility scooter but there is an access bus although this is an extra cost as far as I know.
Your Blue badge will be honoured north and south of the border. Stena Line are fairly good when it comes to disabled passengers but check with them for assistance getting on and off the car deck. there are a couple of discounts running at the moment and consider booking Stena.ie rather than UK do the sums and see if you can get a better deal paying in Euro.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good official guide who could go with me to the Titanic exhibition and also accompanying me to the Giant's Causeway. I saw some adverts of guides , for instance, a student from Spain I think who was advertising as a guide on the main tourist board website and I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations.
I've never been overseas before so I guess I just wanted the security of having someone there to meet me . would a guide do that.? Thank you
Fail té Ireland have a list of "official" guides for the Republic, apparently they have so many that they have not run the course for 2 years as those who sat the course two years ago are still waiting for placements. To be fair the North have their own system for official guides. Whether having a guide in locations that have their own guides is necessary is questionable? I certainly wouldn't be considering a student from Spain unless you have Spanish as a first language.
Travelling over from Birkenhead I am guessing you are British and have English as a first language, Slightly disabled can run from myself to wheel chair but it's unlikely to be a major problem. I will Private message you a possible contact for Belfast.
