Oh, good! More photos I sell can have movie/TV tie-ins :P Hehehe!
I've already got photos from places used in filming for: Outlander, Game of Thrones, Prometheus, Stardust, Monty Python Holy Grail, Harry Potter, Braveheart, Princess Bride... the list is almost endless!

Hi Michele...We are (finally!) planning our trip back (after 5 years) and we are planning to visit Dingle in May. Any more word on when, exactly, the filming will happen? We already have our rooms booked at the Heaton house, but I'm wondering if it's going to be crazy even getting on the peninsula with all the chaos. Where can we find out more about what to expect? I'm so bummed. :( We have a lot of movies that film in our area and I know from experience how they can put a stop to everything going on in the area. Can't believe that I'm going all the way to Dingle and they'll be right there again. :(
The filming is way out beyond the Golf course and will have little effect on the vast majority of visitors, worst case scenario Dingle will for a couple of weeks in May will become like Dingle gets in July and August.

Well...the article says a two week period in the middle of May and that's exactly when we plan to be there. We have a lot of these action movies film in our area (Star Wars has filmed here in our town before) and one of the folks traveling with us actually coordinates with the stunt people on many of them. She has worked on many of the major movies that film here. We all know that when a blockbuster movie is filming, the whole area around it is in gridlock, not only because of the production needs, but also because all the locals descend on the area to see of they can get a peek at what's going on. Not me. When ever I know of filming going on, I avoid the area. It's surely not the reason I am going to Dingle! :( Looks like we may need to change our itinerary...
I don't like Dingle new town, I don't like the way it has turned from a fishing and market town into Disney does Ireland but even though the peninsula covers only 0.6% of the island there are a whole host of places on the peninsula that the majority of tourists never see. According a recent survey 200,000 visitors per year's main point of going to Dingle is to see Fungi !
So, do you change your plans? I suppose it depends entirely on why you are going to Dingle in the first place and if you have to actually stay in Dingle town or on the western end of the peninsula?

We are discussing it now, trying to decide. I'm really not drawn to Dingle town--I wanted to take my friends to experience the wild, beautiful, countryside of the area but I understand the western end of the peninsula is where the filming will happen. I'm sure they want to feature those breathtaking landscapes in the movie so I expect that is where they will be. Oh well. It's not like there aren't LOTS of beautiful landscapes all over Ireland. :) Dingle is just one of my favorites. I'll continue to find out what I can before we decide. Thanks for the articles, and for insights. I'm grateful for any thoughts that might help us make the decision.
When I visit Dingle peninsula these days my aim is for Castlegregory or Kilbeggan at the eastern end, If you want something similar to how Dingle used to be, consider Portmagee and Valentia island on the Skellig Ring.
This is the north west point of the Iveragh (Ring of Kerry) peninsula just a good as Slea head
Thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone. Michele, we did contact the Heatons. I don't think the locals know too much, either. We are probably going to stay one night on Dingle and keep our fingers crossed that we will not be too badly impeded by the production going on.
