Cliffs of Moher to Killarney

Hello,

Five weeks until my trip to Ireland!  I'm starting to map out routes and I'm not sure which route from the Cliffs of Moher to Killarney to take.  I had been thinking of going by way of Tarbert Ferry, thinking that would be faster than going through Limerick, but when I plug in those two choices, the result I get from mapping websites is that going through Limerick is faster.  What do you recommend?

Via Limerick is both faster and cheaper if you take the tunnel.  That way, you don't go THROUGH Limerick -- you go AROUND it!  Only justification for the ferry is if you plan to visit Loop Head, Kilrush, Kilkee or Listowel along the way.

I didn't even know there was a tunnel! When did that happen?

It's a Beltway/bypass under the River Shannon that connects the N/M7 to the N18.  It was completed in late 2010.

It is so nice to avoid Limerick. Now they need a bypass around Adare.

I'm back from my trip! Michele, you are so right. They absolutely need a bypass around Adare. The traffic was ridiculous! And they need one around Abbyfeale too.

Trip report to come. My mission to visit the monastery of Skellig Michael was a success! Crummy weather throughout my vacation, but the boats still went out on my designated day, hooray!

My wife just said, last night, that she HATES driving (riding) through Abbyfeal!  biggrin  biggrin

Glad you made it back safe.  We'll be looking forward to your report.  Glad you made it to Skellig Michael.  It's on my 'List', but I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever make it.  Those steps look rather challenging!  hmm   hmm

Pity about the weather -- I understand it's been unseasonably warm and sunny the past few days.

Isn't that always the way?   confuse   furious   confuse
