Children in Pubs

My husband and I will be traveling to Ireland shortly with elementary school age children and want to know if we will be able to bring them to the pubs to hear traditional music.  One of the things we love best about Ireland is the traditional music.  Please advise.

teale,

Welcome to the forum! Children are supposed to leave pubs at 10 pm in summer and at 9 pm at other times of the year. After those hours only those 18 and over are allowed. Since most sessions start after 9:30 it is probable that your kids will not be allowed to stay. Rules however are always bendable. If children are eating a meal they may be allowed. In country pubs if they are not front and center they may be "overlooked". But on the whole, I'm afriad they won't be allowed.

Perhaps you can see some shows that are not in pubs like Bunratty Traditional Irish Night, Bru Boru, performances of Siamsa, etc.
