Our Trip is getting closer and most things are firmed up. On our Sunday drive through Connemara we plan on leaving Galway counterclockwise first stopping in Cong. We have booked a 10:30 Hawk Walk at Ashford Castle. GPS takes a fairly direct route through Leenaun to Kylemore Abbey and on to Clifton. Hopefully there will be enough daylight to return through Roundstone and Maam Cross. Saving Westport and Doo Lough Valley for another trip. On our Monday visit to Inis Mor I see that flights may be available at 10:00 and returning at 4:15...... Is this a practical method for visiting? Flights seem reasonable. From the airport on Inis Mor would vans or bikes be available to explore the island? We had planned on the shuttle from Galway to the ferry.
Seems like things are shaping up. Flying to the Aran Islands is a good option. It is much quicker and no seasickness. You are correct that you can choose your mode of transportation on Inishmore: bikes, van or jaunting car (horse-drawn vehicle). If you have time while doing Connemara the Sky Drive signposted in Clifden is lovely. Also Dog's Bay outside Roundstone.
