I'm very glad to find this forum. I am trying to plan a trip to Ireland at the end of June, but I just can't find anyone that can suggest a good itinerary for that route. There is a lot to see and I just don't know what is the best. I do know that one stop I would like to make is Waterford. Right now I"m planning to land in Dublin and leave from Shannon. It will be me my husband and 2 kids. We will be renting a car and using B&B or guest houses along the way. Any suggestions would be wonderful.
Thankyou for the welcome! We will be there for either 6 or 7 days. It depends on what kind of timings I can get from Ryan Air. Right now I can get us to Dublin for between 73 euro and 116 euro on 26 June. For the return I would like to fly out of Shannon on either 2 or 3 July for about 140 euro. I have a book that someone loned me that is just for B&B and guesthouses, but until I can get the tickets I want and figure out an itinerary I don't know what to get. So, between Dublin and Shannon what is there to see? THat way I know which towns to try to get places to stay. Thankyou so much for your help. ....................some time later..............................I think I have it somewhat figured out now. I will buy tickets tomorrow thru Ryan Air to fly into Dublin landing at 09:30 a.m. 26 June and will be flying out of Shannon on 2 July at 19:10 p.m. I plan on getting a rental car from the airport in Dublin and returning it at Shannon.
The B&B book will be a help for when you want to book your lodgings. However, there have been thousands of books written about what there is to see and do between Dublin and Shannon. You probably need to go to your local library or bookstore and look at some books about Ireland. Once you find one that appeals to you, buy it. That way you can read up on what there is to do in Ireland. Everyone has their particular likes and dislikes. Some people want to visit castles and gardens. Others want to hike and go golfing.
Do your research first and then you will be equipped to plan a good trip. Planning takes time and effort but the forum is here to help you out.
