Just have to tell someone--and who better than all my friends on this forum. Two of the sisters who accompanied me to Ireland in '03 have signed on to go again in '07! We are currently polling the other women in the family to see how many are interested. I'll guarantee we'll be back here with questions and itineraries to be dissected. Michele, shall we order your '06 book now or wait until this time next year for the '07 version? By this time next year I think I will already be obsessing about accommodations, food, etc. (the truth is, I already am!) Since we've done the Green Blur tour, this one will be more laid back and cover less real estate. We'll see whether the others want to go north or south from Shannon.
How exciting! I am absolutely delighted for you. A girl's trip to Ireland sounds like great fun. Do you have any idea of what month you might go? That would determine the edition of my book you would want to get.
I will clue you in on a little secret. I am to announce my Emerald Awards for 2006 shortly. I found a fab hideaway on Achill Island that will be awarded "Best New Discovery". It is right on a wonderful blue flag beach with mountains and cliffs in the background. This place is "old idealized Ireland at its very best". The hosts are fantastic, rooms cute as can be and they also do dinner. Have I tempted you? Shall I keep you in suspense?
Okay, Michele, I've already included Achill Island in our Virtual Itinerary! That sounds just like something we would love to do.
We will probably go in May or September, depending on what the others want to do. Some of them are still working and have to ask off early for the desired summer months. As one sister says, "We are like vultures here about the summer vacations."
It just occurred to me that I can also check out your website in the meantime. Usually I just hit the forum, but now that a trip looks real I need to check out the rest of the site.
As that same sister wrote, "My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."
If I weren't so fond of my stay-at-home husband, I'd go live in Ireland!
It's great to hear you may be going to Ireland in 2007 too. It is never too early to talk, plan and dream.
Dude,
Why don't you wait to see what month it will be and then decide which edition of my book will best suit you? If it is May I would suggest the 2006 edition. If it is September then wait for 2007. BTW, all rooms in the Achill Island guesthouse are on the ground floor.
Do take a spin around my website. Consider it a "refresher course". I am looking forward to helping with everyone's trips.
The two sisters in question, along with many other family members, are coming in late in April to celebrate my 60th birthday, so we will have a planning meeting then. I'll try to contain myself until then. I loaned out your 2003 book and it never came back, Michele, so I am very anxious to replace it. Maybe I'll just get 2006 anyway! I finally screwed my courage to the sticking point and bought something from eBay, so I now have a PayPal account.
Mark, would you like to join the crazy Jones girls? We could all go together! Or at least maybe we'll run across you at one of Michele's food or lodging recommendations. We'll be the silly ones, maybe wearing matching tee shirts. For the last trip we had "Jones Girls Lucky Charms Tour of Ireland" on the back and a little bouquet of shamrocks with our names below, on the front. The hostesses at Bunratty Castle thought we were a singing group. We soon disabused them of THAT idea!
You will indeed get the 2006 edition. That is all I am mailing out now. I must update my website when I get a few extra seconds of time. I have been so extremely busy I haven't had a chance yet. That's why you will save a buck since it still has the 2005 price on it.
You are busy, so I get a bargain. Can't beat that! I'm headed over to the site immediately. Thanks for the heads-up, and the dollar. I'm sure I'll spend it in Ireland!
The dollar won't go too far in Ireland. But every little bit helps. BTW, thanks for your book order. It came through and your 2006 book will be off to you this week. Then you can read all about that fab place on Achill Island.
