Europcar U.K. Corporate Accused of "Massive Fraud"


 

Europcar's UK Corporate Offices have been raided by the Government's UK Trading Standards Office, investigate claims that Customers may have been 'Over-Charged' up to 30 Million Pounds.

So far, there is NO indication that this activity is System-Wide, but it is probablt too early to tell.  Avis UK has also been accused of substantially over-charging THEIR customers for repair damage, as well.

Likewise, as an opposing message, the Irish Franchise was given an Award of Excellence -- in 2016 (It's LAST Independent year!): autorentalnews.com/channel/rental-operations   

It might also be interesting to note that the Irish 'wing' of Europcar was actually purchased in December, 2016 by the French Holding Company of the Corporation:

Thanks for the links. I've been reading about that. No surprise as we have been dealing with it for years. With any car rental it is always "read the fine print" and "let buyer beware". Being informed in advance makes people less vulnerable to fraud.

There is one reason why insurance damage often costs so much, The Bill for repair leaves the repairer and the likes of Avis (from personal experience) take 90 to 120 days to pay said bill. In 1986 I was chasing Avis UK for bills 6 months overdue.. I doubt that side of the business has improved? (Christ 31 yrs ago ! I'm getting old)
