I got the book last night and immediately started reading - it is great! My husband practically had to pry it out of my hands to get me to go to bed. I swear he thinks I've gone crazy with all this reading and planning (and to think we still have 6 months before we leave!). But I think he's the crazy one missing out on all the fun of planning.

I'm glad to hear the book arrived and you are enjoying it. Your husband will be very pleased with your "obsession" for planning once he gets to Ireland and has a smooth and easy trip because of all your planning. When you get home you can tell him "I told you so!"

Do I understand correctly that all of those accommodation books listed at the begining of Chapter One are free if we order them here at home?

Those publications are free from Tourism Ireland provided they have them in stock. The Family Homes book is never stocked by them. The car rental people give them out free in Ireland. Call right away and order them to be sent to you. If you get them in Ireland you will have to pay for them. See, you are saving money already!
