Flights from NYC

Is it best to fly into Shannon , make a "loop" & fly back out of Shannon, or to fly into Shannon & out of Dublin? Traveling for approx 10 days..mainly want to travel to the Aran Islands,Donegal,Mayo..haven't decided on traveling South of Shannon.First time driving there!

It depends on, IMHO, if you are set on seeing Dublin or not.  If not, go in and out of Shannon.  If so, then start in Shannon and make your way over to Dublin, to fly out (that's what we're doing in June) or vice versa. :)

Maureen,

Green Dragon is right. If everything you want to see is in the west and you will not be stopping in Dublin then fly into and out of Shannon. But if you require a night or two in Dublin it would be better to arrive in one city and leave from the other.

and another thing to consider, many of the preferred flights stop in shannon then continue to dublin.

right now, continental does a daily newark to shannon that is pretty competitive with aer lingus, american and delta.

you will also get a better ticket price going into and out of the same city.

Not necessarily -- when i was comparing prices SNN/DUB vs. SNN/SNN and DUB/DUB, some of the routes were all the same price :)
