It seemed too good to last, and the SuperMax grounding was the insurmountable issue, so no more North American flights to Ireland.
I was able to take advantage of low fares twice, once $300 with no luggage or seat assignment, and $400 the second time with both. Super easy for us to drive to and fly out of Newburgh.
A real shame, without the low fares I don't think I would have made the leap and done trips 5 & 6 to Ireland solo. So thanks Norwegian for allowing me to do that!
Living in Florida, flights via Norwegian weren't really a viable option for us -- but I have NO doubt that their existence exerted downward pressure on the prices other airlines charged. For that reason alone, I'm disappointed to see them shut down their operation.
The real pity is that they might have succeeded if the prolonged 737 Max grounding hadn't happened when it did. Maybe someone else will take up the challenge. I know Ryanair has been threatening to do so for a few years now . . .
