advice on getting from dublin to kinsale

Hi!  I was hoping that someone could give me some advice on the best way to travel from the Dublin airport to Kinsale.  We will be arriving on a Saturday (in the morning) mid-May.  I've done a little research and see that there is no direct train.  Could someone let me know the easiest way?  We are a group of 7 adults.  We'd prefer not to rent cars.  Also, what's the weather like in May?  Thanks!!

mollyw,

You can get a train from Dublin to Cork. You will have to catch a bus to Kinsale from Cork. Take a look at my "Transport" page for schedules.

we just spent 3 nights in kinsale over easter and had a great time... great food, wonderful weather and so much to see! be sure and get to BOTH forts. the little one has really nice views of the entire harbor and it is worth the walk if you are in the mood. our dinners were rather lavish but Max's was our favorite. the Hole in the wall pub was a fun place for us too.

have a great time!

kathy,

I'm glad to hear you had good weather for your visit to Kinsale. It does make such a difference. It's nice that you got to visit both forts. Few people visit James Fort but I enjoy it because it is a bit off the beaten path and there is no formal tour. You just wander around as you want. There are some very good restaurants in Kinsale and it is a cute town.
