Hi Mark thanks for your breakfast advice, that sounds very good im going to take your advice and go there. Also thanks Andi for your imput too, i dont have any reason to go limerick it was just a crazy thought, i have three nights reserve in Galway, i can change it and spend two nights only, and one night in Ennis, I dont know, does that sound good? or should we leave it 3 nights in Galway. and forget the night in Ennis. I apreciate any advice on that.
Michele Thank you very much for answering, also thanks Yasire for your imput. But I have a lot more questions, We only have 8 nights i have reserve 3 already in galway. i also if is possible want to go by clare, Dingle, killarney Cork or Waterford, we wanted to visit Rock of Cashel or Cahir Castle, shoul we stay at Killarney lodge, or may be Harbour view, and how many nights? We have to go to dublin i figure 2 nights because our flight departures from Dublin at 3pm im thinking because the drive to dublin is so long i can return the car some where dont know where? and take the train to Dublin would be faster than driving, also can any one give me advise of a B&B in doublin. What to do? Please Help. Thank you all. Monica
With your short time in Ireland you will not be able to see it all. You must make a list in order of importance and cut out those on the bottom.
If you cut a day from Galway you will have to decide whether you will go to the Aran Islands or do Connemara.
Killarney is a good base for the southwest and Dingle can be done as a day trip from there. If you want to see Waterford for the crystal, you can also see the crystal-making process at Glaway Crystal in Galway. Waterford is available all over Ireland and there is no "discount" on prices at the factory. That way you can cut that from your itinerary.
Get busy with your calendar and map to see if you can come up with another plan. It takes time and work to create a perfect itinerary. It rarely happens on the first few trys. Keep at it.
Thanks Michele: two questions about the car should i drive from to dublin or is better to give the car back, before i head to dublin and go on the train, or this is a crazy idea. after 3 nights in galway and the last two nights in dublin i have 3 nights not sure what is the best thing to do. i dont care to go waterford, should i go to Haorbour view B&B, or Killarney lodge, anybody has any advice? Thanks
If you keep the car you can do sightseeing on the drive to Dublin. If you take the train you can't. You need to decide first on where you are staying before you can determine where you can drop the car.
Our trip is next thursday im still not sure on what to do, We are arriving at 930Am on the 26, im picking up a rent a car at the airport Shanon, from there we are driving to Galway, taking Marks advice we are going to drive head to Kinvara on the way if possible have brakfast at Keough's, the plan is on the way to galway take a scenic route thru the Burren, going thru Ennis on to Corofin continue to Ballyvaughn from there to Kinvara to eat,I also like Coreys idea to stop near Gort at Coole Park, continue to Galway where we are going to stay 3 nights at ardawn house B&B. Next day we are planing to drive to Conemara a day trip, Next day plan to take the Ferry to Aran Island. this is all i have plan so far. after leaving Galway we wanted to drive to Clare, also want to go to Dingle, i dont know where is the best place to stay if we head to Killarney, there is Killarney Lodge or Harbour View? on Kenmare Michele you know this B&B? i dont know how many nights we shoul stay in Killarney, i guess we would be driving to Dublin, We want to visit a castle Rock of Cashel or Cahir Castle. Driving to Dublin we where thinking to spend the nights at Kilronan House, but i saw some reviews that where not to good. Please i need some advice of a place in Dublin also is two nights enough or shoud we do 3. we are staying total of 8 nights, the flight leaves from Doublin to LA at 330pm we have all morning before departure. I apreciate any advice thanks Monica
Hi Michele is me again: The other place i forgot to mention B&B is the shrores on Kerry? bewteen this one and Killarney lodge i also mention harbour view. are any of this right location for what we want to do? Thanks Monica
Do you have reservations yet for Galway? You are arriving on a Friday and staying through the weekend. Galway can be very busy on weekends. Make your plans now.
For the southwest you should choose either Kenmare or Killarney. Either one is a good base. Much as I love The Shores B&B it is a bit isolated for your needs. You can go to my "Lodgings" page for places that I like.
With your limited time I think two nights in Dublin is enough. Try Jury's Inn Christchurch. Make those Dublin reservations ASAP!
Hi Michele thanks for your reply, abut Galway Hotel i do have reservations for 3 nights at Ardawn House, you are right everything is full, i made this reservations like a month ago. that is all i have. After Galway do you think i should, try Killarney lodge for another 3 nights before going to doublin for 2. thanks Monica
I highly recommend Killarney Lodge. Send them an email to see if they have vacancies for you. Killarney is an excellent 3-day base. You can do the whole southwest from there.
For Dublin try Berkeley Court, Davenport, Mont Clare or go to this website: www.irelandhotels.com to see what is available.
Thanks Michele for your reply, i finally got reservation at jurys inn, great thing someone cancell, i call just at the right time. and also got reservations at Killarney lodge. So let me tell you agin we arrive in shanon 9:00am from there we get a car drive to galway stoping for breakfast at keough's (Kinvara) driving thru Ennis on to Corofin continue on to Ballavaughn. to Kirvara. from there to Galway. What Mark sugested before. from Galway depending on the weather we go to Aran Island, and also Connemara, an visit Galway the rest of the time. afeter drive to Claire, pass by Dingle an go to Killarney lodge. from there do all that side, after drive to Dublin return the car when we arrive. stay two nights at Jyrys inn. Back to LA. whe are leaving this thursday on 26. is there anything else you can advice us. We greatly apreciated. thanks very much for all your help. Monica
Delighted to hear you got reservations at Jurys. Your itinerary sounds fine. I suggest driving directly to Galway on the first day bypassing Kinvara. Since you will be traveling through Kinvara on your way down the coast of Clare and on to Killarney you will see it then. You don't want to do too much driving on your first day with jet-lag.
Enjoy your trip. I hope you will let us know how you liked it when you return.
Hi Michele: Thanks for all your advice, very very helpfull, we are leaving the day after tomorrow. I will let you know how was everything when i come back. until then Monica
