I am wondering about the experience of anyone who has used their platinum master card to rent a car from Sixt Irish Car Rentals and had an accident. Did you have any problems?

Not in Ireland but I had an accident in England and was using my Visa card. Here are my suggestions. Take the data telling you what to do in case of an accident. Take pictures of everything. Call immediately.


It all worked out OK and we didn't have to spend a dime. It was only momentarily traumatic.

I have never had an accident in Ireland when using my MasterCard. However, I have heard that the only thing not covered if you do is the 13 1/2 % VAT (tax) on repairs. Also, MasterCard does not cover windshields and tires (but neither does most insurance that you pay for).
