Distance

If you were flying into Shannon and your first stop was Dingle - never driven in Irland before and need to know how long would it take to arrive in Dingle? And if it would be too much of a drive for the first time driver. Itinery: Dingle/Kenmar/Ennis. Should this be changed?

Dot,

It will probably take you around 3 1/2 hours to drive from Shannon to Dingle. I suggest that you take the main roads and do not go via Conor Pass. If you feel tired, stop and get out of the car and walk around or go for some coffee.

Well, would you suggest another alternative for the trip. Since never driven in Ireland before -would you suggest a shorter stay the first night. But eventually we would like to get to Dingle. Since we would like to see Ennis/Kanmare and Dingle - what order should we be going in-or maybe you have a better suggestion -thank you

Dot,

If you feel that you need time to get used to driving in Ireland and that you may be impacted by jet-lag, it might be a good idea to stay closer to your arrival point of Shannon. I do want to tell you that if you have an early arrival your B&B room may not be ready for you. If the B&B was full the previous night guests must get ready, have breakfast, check out and then the rooms must be cleaned before you can occupy the room. If you feel you may need a nap or to check in early in the morning the only way to assure a room is waiting for you is to pre-book the night prior to your arrival as well as your arrival day. This will cost more but the room will be all yours and waiting for you when you arrive. You can also have breakfast on arrival. Many of my clients do just that to assure their comfort.
