Tralee to Westport -continuing my west coast plan

After 3 days in Kenmare and 3 on Dingle, we head north.  The idea is to allow 3 days between Dingle and Westport, and just decide where to stay as we go along.  I have a document indicating my ancestors came from Tralee (although, who knows) and another member of our party knows his family came from Ballylongford, so we want to visit both places.  We would also like to stop in Listowel.  Depending on how involved we get with all of this, we might end up just staying in that area and getting the ferry from Tarbert in the morning.  If we go along the coast, we could spend the next night in Doolin, or go up as far as Kinvara.  The 3rd night might be around Tuam, or if we head into Connemara, perhaps Oughterard.  I'm a planner, but it sounds like the group just wants to be able to stop along the way without worrying about a schedule -- I think I can handle that for 3 days, as long as I know we have reservations in (or around) Westport!

Keeping in mind that we have all visited The Burren, The Cliffs, Aillwee Cave, Galway, and Kylemore Abbey -- any suggestions for me?  (Of course, I have nothing against seeing fantastic scenery more than once.  And it's a bit different every time anyway, isn't it?)

Thanks!  Marsha

Marsha,

As long as it is not a weekend you should be okay. Have you ever done Loop Head? It is a beautiful scenic drive with many stops along the way. There are cliff walks in Kilkee, The Bridges of Ross, the lighthouse at the tip of Loop Head and sea stacks and cliffs. You won't have the tourist hoardes that are at the Cliffs of Moher.

Those 3 days should be Tues-Wed-Thursday.  Loop Head sounds perfect --I'll put it on the list.  Thanks, Michele!
