Gift for a Host?

We are lucky enought to have three days "rent" free at a home in Ringsend, Dublin 4.  A friend of my brother...

We would like to leave an appropriate thank you.  I thought about asking for a good idea for a restaurant from the owner and then getting a gift certificate for them as a thank you.  Then my 14 year old said, "Mom, do they have gift cards in Ireland?  You better check!"

I could bring something from here in the US but I hate to lug something around Ireland and hope it makes it to Dublin in one piece.

I thought the good folks here at Irelandyes might be some help.

Thanks in advance!

Ginger,
I don't know the ages of your hosts of if this would appeal to them, but when I went to Botswana I took t-shirts from popular CA places - Hardrock Cafe, Malibu Beach, etc. They loved these over there so much that they even get stolen from clotheslines. They roll up in suitcases well and they don't break.

Ginger,

Good ideas from Irisheyes. They do have gift certificates in Ireland and any good restaurant will have them. They call them gift vouchers.

How great that you get to stay in a home in Dublin. You will have to let us know how you liked it.

Since we are leaving from NYC tomorrow, I'll look for a cool tshirt for my host's son...he's 3.  As far as for my host, I'm thinking a good dinner out for the parents of a toddler will be greatly appreciated...thanks for confirming the gift voucher title!
