Cottages to rent

Hello Michele and all fellow Ireland lovers!

It has been over 10 years since I have been to Ireland and have recently decided it is time for another trip.  There will be six of us going.  The last two times we stayed at Holy Cross Cottages near Thurles but am having difficulty locating them onlne.  I'm thinking that they may no longer be in business.  Does anyone know of any cottages to rent in the Thurles area or actually anywhere in Tipperary that could sleep six people?

Michele, this is a great site!  Thanks!

phillyharry,

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying my site. You will notice many changes in Ireland since your last visit. Ireland is booming.

Go to my "Links" page (click on IrelandYes Index). I have self-catering listed under Accommodations. I don't have any personal suggestions in the area but I suggest getting the highest star rating possible.

phillyharry,

Check out the Knockahopple cottage in Nenagh.  http://www.knockahopple.com

We recently visited the area and were welcomed by Liam, the owner. I am not sure what time of year you are headed to Ireland so do check to see if his cottage would suit your needs.  Driving from Nenagh to Thurles was comfortable.  There are some good places to eat in town and the Hanley Woolen Mills had some great items for sale.

If you decied to consider a B&B in the area, I can't say enough good things about Willowbrook in Nenagh.  Tricia and Tom and the perfect hosts and the food is incredible!!!

Nenagh is about 30 miles from the Thurles area.

Good luck and have fun

Ginger,

Thanks. I did look at Liam's site before answering this question. It seems that his cottage has two bedrooms. Since phillyharry will have six people it would probably not suit their needs.

Ginger,

Thanks for the suggestion but as Michele said we have six people going.  I'm going to keep searching, though, and hopefully find a cottage that will match our needs.

Harry,

Not too far from Thurless in Dundrum is Weston's Lot. I stayed in the B&B portion and it was first class. They have a separate self-catering cottage which I had a tour of and it is modern and lovely. It has three bedrooms and might be just what you are looking for: http://www.westonslot.com/selfcatering.shtml

It is set in the quiet countryside with lots of woods (really a beautiful area) and is near Dundrum House Hotel and golf course. It is about 7 miles from Cashel and Tipperary town. If you decide to stay tell Tom & Margaret I recommended them to you.
