Need more help in choosing cottage

Loving the Connemara Region, we are still trying to decide on a good place to stay, so that we can explore it further, as well as, the Northern areas of Ireland. Anyone know of some wonderful self-catering cottages for four in Sligo area? Has anyone stayed at the Altans Cottage in Dromore West?

We just returned Sat. from the Connemara Region.  We stayed in a thatched roof cottage, very nice, slept 7people and we had it all to ourselves -- about $250/week.  It was at the Renvyle Thatched Cottages outside of Tully Cross near Clifton, and near Kylemore Abbey.  We drove around the Connamara Region quite a bit.  Nice cities and lots to do in certain places.

When we set up our trip, we drove a rental and had 2 self catering places -- we spoke to 12Travel.com.  We have been corresponding with Elma.  Elma should be able to give you Anne's phone number for the Thatched Cottages.  Also, go to 12Travel.com and check things out with one of the specialists and they can help.

Dana,

I was just speaking with someone this weekend about their recent trip to Ireland and Sligo in particular. She stayed in a self catering in Cliffoney, just outside of Sligo by ten miles. It is called The Cottage. I have not stayed in this cottage, myself. However, She said it was wonderful and she is very particular.  I take it that Ardtarmon was not available?

Perhaps staying in a self catering facility in eastern Co. Mayo would be the ideal? It would allow you access to the Connemaras, as well as the Northern Counties. If you stayed in Castlebar, Foxford, Charleston or Ballinrobe, you would be in the heart of the Connemara and yet able to reach Sligo, the Antrim Coast, the Connemara Coast and Galway. Foxford is a favorite of mine for its Woolen Mill.
