Finalizing Driving Intinerary

My husband, parents (in their 60's)and myself will be going to Ireland at the end of July.  I have been twice before but it's the first time for the others.  We will be renting a car in Dublin and flying out from Shannon.  Here's what I have planned:

Day 1:  arrive Dublin, drive to Kilkenny, night in Kilkenny

Day 2:  Depart Kilkenny for Rock of Cashel.  Spend some time there before heading to Kenmare.   Someone suggested we so to Kenmare via Cashel>Cork>Macroom>Glengarriff>Kenmare.

          Overnight in Kenmare

Day 3:  Kenmare  daytripping

Day 4:  Leave Kenmare for Dingle.  Night in Dingle

Day 5:   Dingle daytripping

Day 6:  Depart Dingle for Salthill (or somewhere closeby) via Tarbert

ferry, see the Cliffs of Moher and onto Salthill

Day 7:  Salthill towards Clifden onto Cong and back to Salthill.

Day 8:  Drive to Bunratty.  Overnight, do a medieval banquet.

Day 9:  Home from Shannon.

If anyone has any thoughts on the above, please don't hesitate.  It's always nice to hear suggestions, maybe I can tweek this more or perhaps it's fine.  I do have two days of alot of drive time but I thought there would be plenty of stops in between.  Thanks in advance.

Irish 57,

I'm glad you finally got into the forum! Sorry about the problem that kept you out at the start. I am happy I could resolve it.

You probably want to give your in-laws a taste of Ireland during your time there. What sort of a pace are you planning on? What you have outlined is doable but you will be moving along at a pretty fast clip even though staying most in places for a couple of nights.

Your day from Kilkenny to Kenmare is a long one. There is so much to see and do in the area it is a pity not to spend more time in Kilkenny. Had you thought about cutting Galway? That would give a slower pace and allow more exploration of Kilkenny/Tipperary.

Michele

Yes, I know the Kilkenny to Kenmare will be long. I figured if we left Kilkenny, did the rock of cashel, we'd probably be in Kenmare about 6 pm.

I could  take one night from Kenmare and giving it to Kinsale to break up the drive. Any thoughts?   If I cut Galway we would miss the drive out to Clifden and back towards Cong.  I was there a few years ago and thought that county was lovely.  But I am open to suggestions!
