Just wanted to post a short note about our trip. We arrived in Shannon to lovely weather. Got rental stick shift and headed to Cashel. Toured the Rock and then headed to ARD RI House. This is just a lovely place. Eileen was a great hostess. Made to order breakfast. My friend had smoked salmon and creamed scrambled eggs. Great!! House was clean and neat. Room was excellent. Even cotton balls and swabs in the ensuite room. All on the ground floor. Also allowed 15 min on internet for free. Tea pot in room. Was there 2 nites. Went to Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage and Waterford the next day. While in Waterford and the weather was beutiful, was told it hailed in Cashel. Headed for Kenmare and stayed 3 nite at The Abbey Court. Brendan could not have been nicer. My friend wanted some tea in the eve, so he brought her a pot and some bisquits. Asked the 2nd nite if she wanted tea and the third nite he left the automatic tea pot in room. Only bad thing for me was that it was second floor room and I have a bad ankle. Did the Beara Peninsula and the weather again was great as we went over Healy Pass. On to Dingle for 2 nites. Cliffs were great and also did the boat cruise which was also great. On to Doolin and stayed at Nellie Dees and such a nice clean place also. Did the Ailiwee Caves and last nite to see Mary Browne at the Bunratty Lodge. What a beautiful place that was. We took advantage of the lower price with no breakfast that Michelle told about. Was leaving at 6am anyway. We had such lovely weather the whole 10 days. Maybe some rain, but didn't really get my coat wet and no umbrella. Was windy at the BeeHives tho. Driving the stick shift for my friend was not a problem either. I kinda got excited a couple times sitting in the passenger seat tho.
After touring the top of the Cliffs, we drove to Doolin. Decided to do the cruise. I loved it and so did my friend. Able to see them from a different view. Some saw puffins, but I can't see a whale in Hawaii, so I knew I wouldn't be able to see such a small bird. We got the cruise from Doolin on the Jack B. Cost was 20 Euros pp. Am so glad I got to see them from a different perspective.
I am doing that same cruise at the end of the month, I am glad to hear that it was worth it. I cant wait, I think its one of the things I am the most excited about!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the Cruise and that the weather was cooperative. I always recommend the cruise to anyone who has enough time to give it. I think it is a fabulous way to see the cliffs. It gives you a much better perspective on the centuries that it took for them to develop. I also find it to be a more relaxing visit than up on top. It is a shame that you couldn't see the puffins! There are a myriad of bird species which make their home on the cliffs' cuts and ledges.
Welcome home! Ready to start planning your next Irish adventure? or did you start on the plane, as most of us do?
Bit, I also want to thank you for the Wildlfower Cottage. Marianne was a gracious hostess. She orig was from WA and I had lived there and she also new NJ where my friend lived. She is a world traveler I suspect. I did have tears in my eyes when I flew out of Shannon, knowing it would be my last trip. Age is creeping up on me!!! But such a wonderful trip it twas>>>
Welcome back and thank you for posting about your trip. I'm glad you enjoyed all the B&Bs and wonderful Ireland. And to think you only had a small spurt of rain on your trip. How nice.
