Sorrowfully Back Just returned from a most memorable trip. Highlights for me were the countryside views. The stone fences, sheep, hedgerows. Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee was beautiful. Did the pub in Kenmare however it was Proud Mary music, not celtic. Poured rain at the Natl Irish Stud Farm. Liked Waterford tour. Did one of the last of the Siamsa Tire shows in Tralee, a completly Gaelic theater production. Enjoyed the Burlington Irish Cabaret in Dublin. Very much enjoyed the lunch at The Rathbaun Farm. Frances was so nice, I didn't want to leave. Stayed at Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill. Very nice. Our one B&B was the Castletown House in Drumcliffe, Co. Sligo. Older place, but Masie Rooney was such a gracious hostess. All in all a just great trip. Would go back in a minute, but would prob not do Dublin. To me, just another big city. Except of course, the Book Of Kells, St Pats Cathdral, etc.
Welcome back and thanks very much for stopping by to post about your trip to Ireland. I agree with you about Dublin, which has never been a favorite of mine. Some interesting sights there but as you said "just another big city" - with lots of construction going on at the moment. But as the saying goes Dublin is not Ireland and Ireland is not Dublin. It is really the countryside that is the attraction and I'm glad that you got to see much of it. Hope you get to plan another trip to Ireland again soon.
