Just Returned Just returned from a 10 day trip to Ireland. The security was good, profiling was standard. On our return trip our flight was held up for a half hour because the U.S. denied entrance to someone. It took that long to remove their baggage from plane. Best deal on car rental was from Malone Automatic for $165.00 a week, plus they picked us up from our hotel in Dublin at no charge. There is no problem getting rooms or B&B without reservations. Did not see any price cutting while traveling. Driving on left side on small roads is a real challenge and it takes longer to get where you are going. Road signs are almost non-existent in small towns. Be prepared to allot more time to driving than planned. People were wonderful and full of questions about what is happening back in the states. As you can imagine there are very few tourists in Ireland now. Great time to travel. We spent a lot of time in the North & West, Donegal, Sligo - very beautiful country-would recommend CastleMurry in DunKinelly and Ardmore house in Westport highly. We enjoyed our trip and are thankful for all your help Michele and your great web site.
Welcome back! I'm so glad that my forum and advice helped with your trip. Thanks so much for stopping by to post your trip report. I'm sure everyone is enjoying it.
Happy travels,
Michele

Re: Just Returned Hi eyeman:
Sounds like you had a great trip. We are traveling in May for 19 Days. Seems like a long way away now.
Do you have any suggestions for great B&B's on the Donegal coast? Growing up in NM and living in Colorado, I have this thing about a view of the sea.
This will be our third trip to Ireland, but we have never gone to the Northwest. We are really looking forward to it.
Once again, glad you enjoyed your trip.

It is not a B&B but a very small hotel overlooking Donegal Bay. It is a beautiful place surrounded by horse farms and sheep and cattle. The food is wonderful. It is in a very small town called Dunkineely. The next town is called Killybegs and is a pituresque fishing port with seals swimming in the harbor. It is very easy to fall in love with Donegal. "Christy Moore" is very popular irish singer who sings about the "Hills of Donegal". We have fond memories of Donegal. We also attended a small but beautiful wedding of our good friends daughter while we were there. Enjoy your trip.
